Keep Calm & Quote On

They're in movies. They're in books. They're in conversations with friends, family, and even strangers you stand behind in the line at the grocery store. They're coming from your pastor, your kids, your coworkers, and from the loud couple on your daily commute. They're in your facebook feed, at family game night, and forever in your brain if you've come across a catchy one. FOR-EH-VER. See? That was one. (10 points to those who can name where...)

They're quotes and I love them. Maybe because I'm a bibliophile and a film buff.

Quotes can inspire, incite, and ignite. Some of the best can, at least.

Today's seeds are some of my favorite quotes from movies, books, and people. Enjoy!

"What man is a man that does not make the world better"
~ Kingdom of Heaven, 2005

"Skate to where the puck is going, not where it has been"
~ Wayne Gretzky

"...Every breath is a second chance..."
~ Switchfoot, 'Always'

These quotes, and so many more, really put into perspective what kind of person I want to be and help keep me focused on what truly matters.

Most importantly, God's word is a wealth of "quotes" and verses to feed the mind, body, spirit, and soul. Keep calm & quote on, my beloved readers.

Some favorite verses include:

My heart overflows with a good theme;
I address my psalm to the King.
My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.

Psalm 45:1

So submit to [the authority of] God.
Resist the devil [stand firm against him]
and he will flee from you.

James 4:7

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Matthew 28:19

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow,
nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away.

Revelation 21:4

As with the quotes, there are many other scriptures that speak to me as well. It's important to note that just quoting something is one thing, you must also put into practice what you preach to reach desired accomplishments. Or, in other words, study to show yourself approved. (Another 10 points to the person who can name where THAT'S from...)

Not just lip service, but live it.
~ Tiff

It's been a while since I just wrote about myself and not anything or anyone else. Well, last night I spoke at my church's ladies meeting. It was fun! I spoke on love - the "love"chapter - 1 Corinthians 13. Love is patient, kind, blah, blah, you get the drift. It was awesome.I included some scenes from movies to go with each different kind of love. 1. Love is Patient - The Notebook - 1 Cor. 13:4 Who here can wait all those years for the one you love? Jacob, in the Bible, waited for his love for FOURTEEN years. Sheesh! That is some patient love right there. 2. Love is not Selfish - Pride and Prejudice - 1 Cor. 13:5 I love this scene from one of my favorite movies of all times. They both were, at times, full of pride and prejudice towards people of other status', but in the end, it was their selfless love that was so beautiful. In the Bible, Queen Esther put aside her social position and acted out this brave, selfless deed and in turn saved her people from destruct...

Star Words: The Seed of Learning

Yesterday, I talked of planting new seeds so if you're suddenly confused by my title, read on and you'll gain some understanding...hopefully. Okay, moving on... Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that one of the biggest movies this year (from one of the biggest movie franchises ever) is Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Everything, from toys to shaving cream, has their stake in this particular film franchise. Including online dictionaries. Merriam-Webster has created a quiz to test the Average Joe, Jedi, and Jabba alike on the vocabulary found in the Star Wars Universe. So, tying in the title, this is my seed to you. The seed of learning. I love to learn and this quiz truly tests your knowledge of Star Wars words and the history behind them ( which I love! ). What's a parsec? Which war did the term storm-trooper first originate from? Take the quiz here and find out ! There's my seed for today. Hope you've enjoyed it! Much Love,...

Flavor of my Life: A Chocolate Lover's Confession

Chocolate? Vanilla? Strawberry? Those three flavors are the basis for any great dessert - especially ice cream. But if you really want to tickle my taste buds, combining the power of peanut butter with chocolate is near heavenly. When I asked my class of children (ranging from ages 7 - 12) what their favorite ice cream flavors were, the answers varied, but were surprisingly traditional. When they asked me the same question, without hesitation, I replied with my heavenly duo. Their response? Groans of disgust. I was a little surprised at their lack of imagination - them being kids and all. However, it makes sense when you think of their ever-growing palette. Heck, I'm still picky and in my thirties. But chocolate and peanut butter?! Mmm. Yes, I am writing an entire post about chocolate and peanut butter. In fact, I'll share a recent find of 20 mind-blowing recipes of the all-too-perfect flavor combo. One of my favorite places to go and enjoy these two flavors toget...
