Rainy Days Are The Best....

We recently had a couple of rainy days. In fact, as I write this now, the skies are overcast and the temperature cool. It's a rare change for this Southern California girl. Lovin' it!

So, as I think about the upcoming weather changes and the holidays that come with it, I also think about the perfect ideas for those rainy days. Here are some of my favorites for those days that come far too rarely and stay far too short.

Favorite Rainy Day Film

Pride & Prejudice is a great movie for those days when it's pouring outside and you're curled up on the couch in your favorite pajamas. The classic love story washes and cleanses your cynical soul from the realities that may surround you. Or is that just because I'm single?
Regardless, with its beautiful cinematography and flawless acting by all those cast; Pride & Prejudice is the ultimate go-to for those cozy days spent lying on the couch with absolutely nothing to do.

Favorite Rain Day Meal

That's right. Chili and cornbread. Everyone has their own favorite recipe. Personally, my mother makes the Best Darn Chili, and boy, is that true! I like to add garlic salt and cheese to my bowl, because she leaves it up to everyone's own preferences.

Her cornbread is amazing as well. And again, I like to add butter (NOT MARGARINE) and sweet honey to my slices of cornbread. Makes for a scrumptious side dish to an already amazing bowl of hearty chili!

This comfy combo is perfect for those days when it's raining cats and dogs outside! Throw on the above-mentioned movie and you're golden!

Favorite Rainy Day Dessert

There's not a combination more perfect than chocolate and peanut butter. In fact, my last blog post was all that flawless pairing! So, it should come as no surprise that I would choose that delicious duo for my favorite rainy day dessert!

Peanut Butter Oreo Pie. I had a dream about this very dessert and knew that someone MUST have an easy recipe. Ya know, for those people who are less than talented in the kitchen, myself included.

Sure enough, there was a plethora of recipes of Peanut Butter and Oreos and Chocolate. Oh my! I chose the one that seemed the most interesting (and certainly the most delicious) to me, but you can search on Pinterest (or wherever) for a similar recipe!

In any case, Peanut Butter Oreo Pie seems like a very logical choice for a rainy day dessert. Simple to make and can easily chill while you're watching your rainy day movie. And hey, if you time it right, it might even be done just in time for the happily ever after! Making it a happily ever after in real life too!

Favorite Rainy Day Music

Michael BublĂ© has one of those voices that feel and sound like home. His songs reflect this old soul of mine and he's the one I instantly go to when it's raining outside and I just wanna chill with some music playing. Melodic and charming, the jazz singer sings my feelings in every way possible.

After curling up on the couch and watching a movie, there's something comforting with listening to music and reading a great book. Which happens to be the last of my Rainy Day suggestions.

Favorite Rainy Day Book

I own about 3 or 4 copies of this book. There's something quite tragically perfect about this classic love story. You hate Rochester, but then you ultimately feel for him. You love Jane, but can't understand why she does what she does. I can read this book over and over again and never get bored. It's haunting and sad, yet charming and relatable.

For those overcast and rainy days, this book is one I can always count on to keep me engrossed from start to finish! I realize it's not a book for everyone. Some prefer lighter reading, but I completely and wholeheartedly recommend this book anyway.

So, there you have it. My Rainy Day Favorites. Next time you find yourself in the middle of a rain storm. Go ahead and dance in it, but then come back inside and snuggle up with some of these rainy day suggestions! Enjoy!

ahhhhhh! Yes! I love all of your selections! I would only switch out walnut fudge brownies for the pie. These days are golden!

It's been a while since I just wrote about myself and not anything or anyone else. Well, last night I spoke at my church's ladies meeting. It was fun! I spoke on love - the "love"chapter - 1 Corinthians 13. Love is patient, kind, blah, blah, you get the drift. It was awesome.I included some scenes from movies to go with each different kind of love. 1. Love is Patient - The Notebook - 1 Cor. 13:4 Who here can wait all those years for the one you love? Jacob, in the Bible, waited for his love for FOURTEEN years. Sheesh! That is some patient love right there. 2. Love is not Selfish - Pride and Prejudice - 1 Cor. 13:5 I love this scene from one of my favorite movies of all times. They both were, at times, full of pride and prejudice towards people of other status', but in the end, it was their selfless love that was so beautiful. In the Bible, Queen Esther put aside her social position and acted out this brave, selfless deed and in turn saved her people from destruct...

Star Words: The Seed of Learning

Yesterday, I talked of planting new seeds so if you're suddenly confused by my title, read on and you'll gain some understanding...hopefully. Okay, moving on... Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that one of the biggest movies this year (from one of the biggest movie franchises ever) is Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Everything, from toys to shaving cream, has their stake in this particular film franchise. Including online dictionaries. Merriam-Webster has created a quiz to test the Average Joe, Jedi, and Jabba alike on the vocabulary found in the Star Wars Universe. So, tying in the title, this is my seed to you. The seed of learning. I love to learn and this quiz truly tests your knowledge of Star Wars words and the history behind them ( which I love! ). What's a parsec? Which war did the term storm-trooper first originate from? Take the quiz here and find out ! There's my seed for today. Hope you've enjoyed it! Much Love,...

Flavor of my Life: A Chocolate Lover's Confession

Chocolate? Vanilla? Strawberry? Those three flavors are the basis for any great dessert - especially ice cream. But if you really want to tickle my taste buds, combining the power of peanut butter with chocolate is near heavenly. When I asked my class of children (ranging from ages 7 - 12) what their favorite ice cream flavors were, the answers varied, but were surprisingly traditional. When they asked me the same question, without hesitation, I replied with my heavenly duo. Their response? Groans of disgust. I was a little surprised at their lack of imagination - them being kids and all. However, it makes sense when you think of their ever-growing palette. Heck, I'm still picky and in my thirties. But chocolate and peanut butter?! Mmm. Yes, I am writing an entire post about chocolate and peanut butter. In fact, I'll share a recent find of 20 mind-blowing recipes of the all-too-perfect flavor combo. One of my favorite places to go and enjoy these two flavors toget...
